Terms & Conditions
Path & Presence Therapy
Effective Date: October 9, 2026
Welcome to Path & Presence Therapy. We believe that clarity, trust, and open communication are important parts of any therapeutic relationship, and that extends to how we operate our website.
These Terms & Conditions explain how our website may be used, provide important information about our services, and outline certain rights and responsibilities.
By accessing or using www.pathandpresencetherapy.com, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please review them carefully.
-
Path & Presence Therapy is a private mental health counseling practice operated by Carina Nation, Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC), serving adults and couples in Utah.
Our services focus on helping individuals navigate anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and life transitions through thoughtful, individualized, trauma-informed care.
Services may include:
Individual psychotherapy
Couples counseling
Telehealth therapy throughout Utah
Walk & Talk Therapy in the Park City area
Other therapeutic approaches appropriate to an individual's needs
Services are provided in accordance with applicable professional standards, licensing requirements, and ethical guidelines.
Information presented on this website is intended to help prospective clients understand our approach, explore available services, and determine whether Path & Presence Therapy may be an appropriate fit.
-
The information provided on this website is for general educational and informational purposes only.
Although we strive to share accurate, helpful, and clinically informed information, website content should not be interpreted as:
A mental health diagnosis
Individualized psychological or medical advice
A professional treatment recommendation
A substitute for counseling, medical care, or emergency services
A guarantee of any particular treatment outcome
Everyone's experiences, circumstances, and mental health needs are different. Information that may be helpful to one individual may not be appropriate for another.
If you are experiencing mental health concerns, we encourage you to seek individualized guidance from a qualified professional.
-
Visiting this website, submitting an inquiry, scheduling a consultation, or communicating with Path & Presence Therapy does not automatically establish a therapist-client relationship.
A therapeutic relationship begins only after the practice has determined that services are appropriate, agreed to provide care, and completed the applicable intake and informed-consent process.
Before treatment begins, clients will receive information regarding the nature of services, professional expectations, confidentiality, fees, scheduling, cancellation policies, and other applicable practice requirements.
Clients may also be asked to complete intake questionnaires, provide relevant background information, and acknowledge treatment-related policies.
These Terms & Conditions govern general website use and do not replace the separate clinical agreements required for treatment.
-
Path & Presence Therapy offers appointment requests and scheduling options through its website and designated scheduling systems.
Submitting an appointment request does not guarantee availability or acceptance into treatment.
Appointments are subject to provider availability, clinical appropriateness, scheduling confirmation, and completion of required documentation.
We may recommend another provider, treatment setting, or level of care when an individual's needs fall outside our scope of practice or available services.
Clients are responsible for providing accurate contact information and notifying the practice of scheduling changes.
Specific appointment expectations, late-cancellation requirements, no-show fees, and rescheduling procedures will be provided separately as part of the practice's financial and informed-consent documentation.
-
Path & Presence Therapy accepts certain commercial insurance and Medicare Advantage plans, subject to individual network participation, eligibility, and benefits.
Insurance coverage varies by plan and may depend on medical necessity, deductible requirements, copayments, coinsurance, authorization requirements, and other policy provisions.
Acceptance of an insurance plan does not guarantee payment or coverage for a particular service.
Clients are encouraged to verify their benefits before beginning treatment. Our practice can assist with understanding available information; however, final coverage determinations are made by the insurance carrier.
Clients are responsible for applicable out-of-pocket costs and financial obligations disclosed through the practice's financial agreement, subject to insurance contracts and applicable law.
Fees for private-pay services and any applicable cancellation charges will be communicated before services are provided.
The practice will provide any required estimates or financial disclosures in accordance with applicable laws.
-
Path & Presence Therapy offers telehealth counseling to eligible clients located within Utah.
Telehealth allows clients to participate in therapy through approved electronic communication platforms rather than attending an in-person appointment.
To help protect confidentiality and maintain effective treatment, clients participating in telehealth sessions are expected to:
Attend from a private, appropriate location.
Use a reliable internet connection and compatible device.
Minimize interruptions and distractions.
Inform the therapist of their physical location at the beginning of each session.
Communicate any technical difficulties that may affect the appointment.
Telehealth services are subject to professional licensing requirements and applicable laws based on the client's physical location at the time of treatment.
If a client is temporarily outside Utah, the practice must determine whether services can legally and appropriately be provided before proceeding.
Telehealth may not be suitable for every situation or clinical need. Clients will receive a separate telehealth informed-consent agreement describing its benefits, limitations, risks, privacy considerations, and emergency procedures.
-
Walk & Talk Therapy is an outdoor counseling option offered in designated locations throughout the Park City area.
This service combines traditional therapeutic conversation with gentle movement in an outdoor environment.
Clients do not need to be particularly athletic to participate. Session locations and activities are selected with consideration for individual needs, comfort, physical abilities, weather conditions, and clinical appropriateness.
Because sessions take place outdoors, certain considerations differ from traditional office-based therapy. These may include:
Changes in weather or trail conditions
Uneven walking surfaces or other environmental hazards
Incidental encounters with members of the public
Limitations on privacy in shared outdoor spaces
The need to modify, reschedule, or relocate sessions for safety or clinical reasons
Walk & Talk Therapy is optional and may not be appropriate for every client or every therapeutic situation.
Before participating, clients will receive information about outdoor therapy expectations, confidentiality considerations, potential physical risks, and alternative session arrangements.
Participation requires separate informed consent.
-
We understand that reaching out for therapy may involve sharing sensitive or personal information.
Path & Presence Therapy takes client privacy seriously and uses appropriate administrative and technical safeguards for information handled through its practice systems.
However, general website forms, standard email, and other electronic communications may involve privacy and security risks.
Unless specifically instructed to use an approved secure system, please avoid submitting sensitive clinical details, financial information, or other highly confidential information through general website contact forms.
Electronic communication should generally be used for scheduling, administrative questions, and general inquiries rather than ongoing therapeutic conversations.
Messages submitted through the website or general email are not monitored continuously and should not be used to communicate urgent clinical or safety concerns.
Once treatment begins, clients will receive additional information about approved communication methods and how confidential information is handled.
Please refer to our separate Privacy Policy and Notice of Privacy Practices for information about the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal and health information.
-
Path & Presence Therapy is not an emergency or crisis-response service.
This website, its contact forms, appointment requests, and routine communication systems are not monitored 24 hours a day.
If you are experiencing an immediate medical or mental health emergency, believe you may harm yourself or someone else, or are in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
For immediate emotional support or assistance during a mental health crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

-
Path & Presence Therapy respects the privacy of individuals seeking mental health services.
Confidential clinical information is handled in accordance with applicable federal and Utah laws, professional ethical standards, and the practice's Notice of Privacy Practices.
Confidentiality is an important part of therapy, but legal and ethical exceptions may apply in certain circumstances, including situations involving mandatory reporting, threats to safety, or other disclosures required or permitted by law.
Clients will receive additional information about confidentiality, its limitations, and their privacy rights before beginning treatment.
Use of this website does not require visitors to waive any legal rights relating to their personal information or protected health information.
-
Path & Presence Therapy is committed to providing respectful, ethical, and professionally appropriate mental health services.
Clients have the right to:
Receive information about their therapist's credentials, qualifications, and professional experience.
Ask questions about recommended treatment methods, expected duration, and applicable fees.
Participate in decisions about their care.
Request additional information about services.
Seek a second opinion.
Raise questions or concerns about their treatment.
Discontinue treatment at any time, subject to applicable legal requirements and arrangements for appropriate continuity of care.
Receive information about confidentiality and their privacy rights.
Request access to their records as permitted by law.
Professional relationships must maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries.
